Do you feel as though your employee break room isn’t quite as good as it could be? Maybe you don’t think you’re giving them the most relaxing experience and you want to do something about this. Either way, now is the time for you to make a positive change for your team.
Provide Coffee and Snacks
The first thing you need to do is make sure that you are providing both coffee and snacks. No break room is complete without things like this. You can also give your team the chance to ask for extra options as well. It may be that you give them a tea kettle or even a cappuccino machine so that they can customize their coffee to their liking. You can also include lots of healthy snacks so you can give them the boost they need to get through the day.
Offer a Space for Conversation
If you want to create the best break room for your good employees then one thing you need to focus on is making sure that your team feels as though they are taking a break from the office. They have to be able to take a break from their work. One way for you to do this would be for you to pick out paint colors that are fun and vibrant.
You might also want to add some comfortable seating, while creating spaces for your employees if they want to be alone, or take a private call. You can find banquette seating types & styles online and when you do, you will be able to create the best break room for your team.
Close Off the Space
If you want your break room to truly feel like a relaxing space then you need to make it feel separate. If you have an open floor plan then it can be difficult to do this. One way for you to work around that would be for you to use glass partitions or temporary partitions. You can also use curtains or barriers to add even more privacy.
Activities
Break rooms can be a great space for your team to have a bit of fun. You can also encourage them by providing some fun games.
Some of the ones you could add include a ping pong table or a pool table. The best thing about adding things like this is that it encourages your team to spend time with each other, which is a fantastic way for you to help everyone bond within the workplace.
Work Parties
If you have a break room then you ideally need to make it big enough so it can accommodate work parties. On a daily basis, your break room may be used by just a few people at a time. That being said, it can be a great place for you to have your team gather if it is someone’s birthday or if it is another similar event.
If possible, make sure that your break room is laid out in a way that encourages and facilitates activities for everyone.
Personalize It
The decorations that you decide to go with for your break room can make a monumental difference. You do want to be consistent here but at the same time, you also want to be fun. Make sure that you consider things like paint or even art and furniture. Sometimes you can consult with a designer so you can put together a design that works best for your team.
Encourage Breaks
You can also offer something fun for team members who want to relax and take their minds off work for a bit. It may be that you offer them a TV to watch or that you give them the chance to read a book. Employees who feel burnt out often struggle with their productivity, so make sure that you give them something that they can focus on so you can give them that positive outlet.
Sure, things like this, and break rooms in general do require investment but at the same time they are well worth it and you would be surprised at how much it could help you to get the result you are going for.
Of course, giving your team a space to unwind and relax is so important. If you don’t give your team that space then you may find that they struggle and that they can’t concentrate at work as much as you’d like/. By giving them an outlet, you can help them and you can also give them the support they need to sustain their mental health.
