6 Ways To Give Your Hair More Life

So, how are you planning on looking your best for summer to wow everyone you walk past? A golden tan? A beach body that leaves everyone in awe? Maybe. But there’s one improvement that can benefit everyone, and it doesn’t demand hours on a sunbed or at the gym.

By now, you know all about your hair, or at least you think you do. You may have even accepted it’s never going to look like the people on billboards or commercials. This isn’t strictly true, though. It’s always possible to give your hair more life and boost your confidence. You just need to know what works best for you.

Refresh the Color

Whether you prefer a natural look, want to stand out with something bold and neon or want to change your color to match the top hair trends, the color will fade as time goes on. This is natural, as the dye loses its vibrancy or the weather or your age affects the color. You can use box hair dyes to prevent this, although using them too often can damage your hair, while professional hair coloring can be expensive and unsustainable.

So what’s your solution? You may have heard of color depositing shampoo, but a color depositing conditioner can be just as effective, and is an essential step in giving your hair more life, improving its health, and taking good care of it.

Blow Dry Upside Down

You’re familiar with blow-drying your hair, especially when you’ve slept in a little too long and are rushing to get out the door on time. But you have probably only blow-dried while standing up. This is effective for sure if you’ve never tried an upside-down blow dry, consider it next time.

You can do this by using your hair detangler and then drying it upside down. Don’t use the nozzle, as this can interfere with the effects. When your hair is dry, flip it over and use the nozzle to smooth out the ends to provide fun and healthy volume.

But Don’t Set the Temperature Too High

However, while an upside-down blow dry can be effective, be careful about how high you set the temperature. Using the highest settings can risk overdrying your hair, which makes it brittle and lifeless. If you’re going to take the blow-drying route, a low and slow dry is better, so give yourself enough time to go through the entire routine. Regardless, use heat protector spray whenever you use a blow dryer, curling iron, or hair straighteners to avoid burning your hair.

Look After Your Scalp

Much of your hair health begins on your scalp. But, few people understand how to take care of their scalp effectively. They assume that oily roots are a bad thing and that dandruff is something they will have to live with (in shame, no less).

This is not the case though, at least it doesn’t have to be the case as long as you understand how appropriate scalp care can transform your hair health. To achieve this, learn what type of scalp you have. Is it naturally oily or dry? Make sure to choose products based on this to give it the best chance of thriving. If done right, you’ll soon see the positive results in your hair.

Embrace Your Hair’s Texture

Similarly, you need to learn to embrace your hair’s texture and understand its needs. While there are contrasting ideas on how to make the most of the texture, it ultimately comes down to taking a hands-off approach occasionally.

This may be the complete opposite of everything you’ve ever heard but listen: if you’re constantly pruning and adjusting your hair, you never give it the chance to be what it really wants (or even needs) to be. If you’re struggling to get your hair right, try leaving it alone for a while and seeing how it returns to its natural look.

Watch What You Eat

The right foods will also impact how healthy your hair is, so adjusting your diet to rejuvenate listless and thinning hair could be the best solution.

While everyone’s hair is different, the general makeup is the same. So, it’s worth checking out these nutritionist recommendations that include proteins and omega-3 fatty acids to provide a well-rounded diet. Foods like salmon, eggs, sardines, and buckwheat are common components of a hair-boosting diet.

Vitality

Many people consider their hair their best feature, and any issues with it, such as thinning, graying, or split ends, can feel like the end of the world as they know it. It’s rarely that terrible, but you still want to ensure your hair looks as good as possible no matter what. These tips can help you rejuvenate your locks and feel better than ever.
