Have you ever stepped out in a new outfit and felt as though you were on top of the world? If so, then you have probably had a taste of what fashion confidence feels like. It comes down to knowing that you feel good, and wearing clothes that work. The problem is that a lot of people don’t feel this kind of confidence nearly as much as they should, and there are a lot of reasons why.
Instead of focusing on where you fall short, a lot of people simply give up and they wear clothes that are ill-fitting or worn out. If you want to do something about this, then one thing you can do is try and make a positive change by simply working on your style confidence. If you want to find out more about that then simply take a look below.
Act Now
It’s so easy for you to get caught up with constantly trying to improve yourself. New Year’s resolutions and even self-care routines are all great when you can use them appropriately. That being said, modern marketing tends to turn them into pillars of worth. You may find yourself saying that if you can only lose 10 lbs, that you will be able to take your wardrobe seriously.
You may also be telling yourself that if you can just get a promotion, you will finally be able to buy the clothes you want. Waiting for a magical shift to happen is not the answer to you feeling confident in your clothes all of a sudden. Instead, you need to act now. If you don’t take action now, then you may find that you are never able to take control of your style, and this is the last thing you need.
Get Rid of Clothes That Make you Feel Bad
If you want to feel better, then one thing you need to do is buy clothes that make you feel good. You may be tempted to look at the number on the label, but this will only make you feel bad. One way for you to work around this would be for you to cut out the number on the label and put it in the bin.
This is a very good way for you to end the toxic relationship that you have with your clothes. If you have some clothes that you wish you could fit into then this is understandable, but now is the time for you to let them go. If you don’t then you may find that they serve as a constant reminder of your body shape not being what you want, and this is the last thing you need. If you find a trend that didn’t work out for you, then now is the time for you to let go. If it doesn’t make you feel good, look good, or even give purpose to your wardrobe then now is the time for you to purge.
Separate your Body and Style
Even if you don’t have any issues with your body image, it’s very easy for you to have a warped vision of yourself. Usually, it’s harsh too. A lot of people struggle with body image, and this leaves them feeling ashamed of their bodies. This is especially the case when it comes to trying on new clothes. Your body hang-ups and your overall improvement goals have to be split from your style. If you dress in a way that stems from you having to hide certain parts of your body, then you will always lack confidence. In the meantime, accept the fact that your style and your confidence are different to your body hang-ups.
It’s possible for you to look great in a fitted dress, even if you know that you have a bloated stomach. You can rock a crop top, even if you are a bigger person. If you can find happiness in your style, then this will help you to embrace yourself more.
Identify Trends
Now you have hopefully purged some clothes from your wardrobe, you may be feeling a little more confident already. It’s a good idea for you to take things to the next level now. You have to identify what kind of styles make you feel happy. Do you like to dress with a classic theme? Maybe you like to go a little edgy where possible.
Either way, it’s so important for you to identify what styles you have before you go too deep into your journey. If you can do this then you will soon be able to pull out any pieces that aren’t for you, or that don’t make you feel confident. You don’t want to box yourself in, but you do need to start honing your style where possible. Remember, your fashion choices will determine what makeup you wear too, so be mindful of that.
Don’t Copy Others Exactly
It can be hard not to copy other people. That being said, if you buy whatever your influencer is wearing then this will work against you. There isn’t a single person on this earth who is quite like you, and for this reason, you need to make your style preferences as authentic as possible. When you copy other people’s fashion, you are embracing what they have in their life. Mimicking their style won’t give you confidence, and it won’t give you the beauty they have either. The best thing you can do is focus on yourself and what gives you confidence.
If you can do this then you can stop yourself from pretending who you are not, which will work to your advantage. It is perfectly okay for you to look to others for some inspiration or some style guidance regarding your outfit combinations, but that being said, you do need to feel best in your clothes because if you don’t then you will never end up finding your own style.
Why not see if you could make a huge difference to the way, you look and feel today, by taking on board some of the above advice?
