They say that having a tidy, clean bedroom can work wonders for your mental and even physical health. It helps you sleep better, gets you to relax more, and it generally means there are fewer allergens in the air. However, keeping your bedroom tidy isn’t always the easiest thing to do, and it can be a space that gets messy – especially since guests and visitors won’t usually see it, so shutting the door and ignoring the mess is much easier.
If you want to make sure your bedroom stays tidy because it’s going to help you feel better, keep reading; we’ve got some great advice for you.
Start With A Clean Slate
If you want a tidy bedroom and it’s currently not looking good, the best thing to do to begin with is to create a clean slate. This won’t appeal to everyone, but when you think about it, it really is the only way to make sure everything is as clean and tidy as it can be.
Start by taking everything out of the room – including furniture where you can – and then cleaning and dusting every little nook and cranny. Dust your surfaces, vacuum your carpet, take all the bedding and wash it thoroughly, and so on. Having this fresh start will give you the motivation to keep going, and it means your bedroom is extremely clean.
Declutter Ruthlessly
If you want a tidy bedroom, you can’t have a cluttered bedroom – the two things just can’t go together. That’s why, when the room is empty, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to really declutter ruthlessly, removing anything that you no longer want or need or that’s really just getting in the way.
Before you put anything back into your bedroom, think carefully about what it is, what it does, and whether it’s something you actually need and use. If not, you can get rid of it (perhaps by donating it or selling it), and if it is, you can find a place to store it neatly (and of course, if it doesn’t need to be in the bedroom, find somewhere else to keep it).
Invest In Plenty Of Storage
Once you know what you want to keep and what you need in your bedroom, you can’t just throw it all back in and leave it in a pile or on surfaces. If you do that, you’ll be making a mess again after you just tidied up.
You’re going to need storage if you really want to make your bedroom neat and tidy and keep it that way, so consider the space you have and what you can do with it. One great option is to get bespoke luxury wardrobes that are made to fit your room exactly or, if you have a spare box room, you could even turn that into a walk-in wardrobe with made-to-measure shelving. If there’s a little less room, you can invest in some storage boxes to keep under your bed or at the bottom of a wardrobe, ensuring that everything can be kept out of sight and not in the way of making your bedroom tidy.
